چکیده

The authors report the growth of multiwall carbon nanotubes directly onto indium tin oxide glass via chemical vapor deposition as large area semitransparent electrodes for organic solar cell applications. The rate of nanotube growth on this ternary oxide is greatly reduced as compared to that of silicon dioxide and glass substrates enabling a high degree of control over nanotube height. The strong potential of this nanostructured semitransparent substrate as an interpenetrating hole-extracting electrode in bulk-heterojunction organic solar cells is also demonstrated. © 2007 American Institute of Physics. All-Carbon Electrodes for Flexible Solar Cells

Transparent electrodes based on carbon nanomaterials have recently emerged as new alternatives to indium tin oxide (ITO) or noble metal in organic photovoltaics (OPVs) due to their attractive advantages, such as long-term stability, environmental friendliness, high conductivity, and low cost. However, it is still a challenge to apply all-carbon electrodes in OPVs. Here, we report our efforts to...

Hybrid carbon nanotube networks as efficient hole extraction layers for organic photovoltaics.

Transparent, highly percolated networks of regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (rr-P3HT)-wrapped semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes (s-SWNTs) are deposited, and the charge transfer processes of these nanohybrids are studied using spectroscopic and electrical measurements. The data disclose hole doping of s-SWNTs by the polymer, challenging the prevalent electron-doping hypothesis. Th...

Flexible organic photovoltaics from zinc oxide nanowires grown on transparent and conducting single walled carbon nanotube thin films

The fabrication of flexible organic photovoltaics (OPVs) which utilize transparent and conducting single walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) thin films as current collecting electrodes on plastic substrates in zinc oxide nanowire (ZnO NW)/poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) bulk heterojunction photovoltaic devices is reported. The bulk heterojunctions for exciton dissociation are created by directly growin...

Electrical, structural, and optical properties of sulfurized Sn-doped In2O3 nanowires

Sn-doped In2O3 nanowires have been grown on Si via the vapor-liquid-solid mechanism at 800 °C and then exposed to H2S between 300 to 600 °C. We observe the existence of cubic bixbyite In2O3 and hexagonal SnS2 after processing the Sn:In2O3 nanowires to H2S at 300 °C but also cubic bixbyite In2O3, which remains dominant, and the emergence of rhombohedral In2(SO4)3 at 400 °C. The resultant nanowir...

Synthesis of large arrays of well-aligned carbon nanotubes on glass

Free-standing aligned carbon nanotubes have previously been grown above 700 degreesC on mesoporous silica embedded with iron nanoparticles. Here, carbon nanotubes aligned over areas up to several square centimeters were grown on nickel-coated glass below 666 degreesC by plasma-enhanced hot filament chemical vapor deposition. Acetylene gas was used as the carbon source and ammonia gas was used a...
